Soccer Finale!

Holdyn just finished up his 6 weeks of soccer lessons on Tuesday evening. It was a whole lot of 'controlled chaos'. At most times, however, it was not controlled and quite hectic with 10-15 2 and 3 year olds running around crazy on a huge open field. I don't know if he really enjoyed soccer or not. Holdyn is a child that needs a lot of structure. I think he feels most comfortable when he knows what is coming. I won't have to worry about him getting a wild idea to jump up and go to Vegas the next day with his friends. He is much more like mom and dad! We have to plan, plan, plan! Maybe when he gets a little older and its more of a controlled structured environment we can try again. I think we might try t-ball next. Every practice he would always come over to me and say 'mommy what time it is' 'I ready to go home mommy'. Granted he is a homebody like Robbie and I both are but now that he stays home with me and only goes to school a few hours a week I thought he would enjoy getting out some in the evenings with other kids and playing. He does prefer to play by himself (I guess that is the first child syndrome) so maybe we will just have our own soccer team with one player :) and maybe a two player team when Hadley can run with him too! At the end of this weeks practice they had a little ceremony and all the children got medals and certificates. Holdyn also refused to follow any of the 'rules' during the season. He decided to create his own. Every practice they would play 'hide and seek'. Each child had to hide their face in their soccer ball then when they heard 'seek' they had to go find their coach. Holdyn refused to hide his face every single time (see photo above). He also figured out that he was much faster than the other children if he picked his ball up and carried it instead of kicking it like everyone else. All season, he probably kicked the ball only a handful of times. He always ran as fast as his little legs would carry him but that ball was always in his hands and never on the ground. Good problem solving skills if you ask me. He is one smart cookie. He must take after his daddy *cough*.

Look at my medal and certificate!

Baby sister was always there to cheer me on!

PawPaw and GiGi came to visit!

Busy Week!

We have been so busy this week with lots of doctor appointments. I cramed everything in to one week to get it all over with. What was I thinking?!

On Thursday I took Holdyn to his first ever dental appointment. I decided to use a normal general dentist instead of a pediatric dentist. I took him back in September to a pediatric dentist just for an exam because he had a tooth that had not come in yet. The doors to go to the back room where the children were was sound proof. That was my first indication there was trouble!! Back in the room multiple children screaming and staff member sitting on the children holding them down and prying their mouth open and forcing them to cooperate. Yeah we didn't go back there!! I had my dental appointment on Wednesday so I talked with them about bringing him. I went in on Thursday with the mindset of if he was scared or didn't want to do it, I would not force him to do it. I wanted his first experience to be pleasant and not traumatic. They were very nice and great with him. The hygenist showed him all of her 'cool' toys and her rocket chair he got to ride up and down in. She even had sponge bob toothpaste just like Holdyn had at home. They became great friends after she gave him a tube to take home! He opened wide and let her clean everything and didn't complain once. The dentist came in and counted all of his teeth and said everything looked great! Afterwards, I was so proud ( I was prepared for a complete throw yourself on the floor meltdown) that I took him to ToysRus and he got to get a new Home Depot tool belt and hard hat. He loves being workman!

On Friday, Hadley had her 2 month well baby check up. She is 11lbs 7oz and 23in long! She has gained 2lbs and grown 3in in the past month!! She is eating her wheaties! She got a great checkup but we are still battling a small eye infection (a blocked tear duct) that she has had since December. We have done 3 different rounds of antibiotic drops and its just not clearing it up so we are headed to a pediatric eye doctor this week to see if we need stronger drops or if we should just let it clear up on its own. She is really starting to kick her legs and move her arms and she is 'talking' up a storm when she wakes up in the morning. She has also gotten attached to a new 'lovie'. It's a taggie blanket that Tammy sent her that is fuzzy on one side and silk on the other. She is holding on to it during the day and she pulls it over her face in order to go to sleep at night! So cute! She is still the best baby and only cries when she is hungry, sleepy, or has a wet diaper. I guess she got the memo about being the 2nd child and I can't run to her at every wimper she might make. Holdyn is still the best big brother and runs to her all the time and says "I need to kiss and hug my baby sister!" He also loves to show her all of his fire trucks and ambulances.

It is a beautiful day and we have been outside 'fighting fires' all morning and I think we are about to go to the park and feed the ducks :)

Hadley's lovie

We might have a thumb sucker on our hands! She is spitting out her paci during the day to find her thumb!

Snow Bunnies!

Holdyn had a BLAST in the snow! It came down pretty heavy but didn't really stick. MooMa and DooDa came over to play with us. Holdyn had a great time shoveling all the icy slush off the table into a bowl in hopes that we could make a snowman with it. It was just too slushy. Baby sister fell asleep during all of the commotion. Thanks to MooMa for being such a sport and braving the cold weather to play with Holdyn outside! He wanted to watch the news this morning so the weatherman could tell him when it would start snowing again.

Mother of the Year Award

Yeah I totally would not have won mother of the year today. I was racing out the door this afternoon to get Holdyn to soccer practice on time. We were late as usual and I was rounding up the dog to get her in the crate, Hadley was screaming in her carseat and Holdyn had thrown himself on the floor proclaiming that he would only go if he was carried to the car. We finally got on our way and he got to practice. The coach announced it was water break time. It then hit me. I had forgotten his water in all of the drama trying to get out of the door on time. He ran over to me and said 'Mommy where is my juice'. I told him I was so sorry that I forgot it and we would stop and get him something on the way home. He spins around, throws his hands up in the air and starts running back to the group screaming as loud as he can "GUYS!! GUYS!!! I don't have any juice. Mom didn't bring me any juice. GUYS!!" I was mortified!! My 3 year old just called me out! I was waiting for the horrible glares from the other parents and I just wanted to hide under the nearest rock! Soon after, the 2nd water break was announced. Great! Holdyn didn't even come over to me. He stood with both coaches looking up and them and said " But I don't have any juice. Mommy didn't bring me any". How much you wanna bet I won't ever forget that little boys juice again!!

Baby sister watching soccer practice

On our way to soccer practice, we were driving down a very busy street in Savannah and I was blinded by a sight that I drove past. I happened to have the camera with me and I had to turn around and get a picture. Can you seriously not hang these in your backyard or somewhere in your house?! This woman choose her front porch on a busy street! All I can say is WOWZERS!!!

New Beginings

On December 7th, 2009 we welcomed our newest addition to the Udinsky household. Hadley Anne was born at 11:51 a.m. weighing in at 6 lbs 14 oz. I seemed to recover much faster with this c-section than with Holdyns. Maybe having a 3 year old at home to chase around had something to do with that! Holdyn is loving his new baby sister and is such a good big brother!

In January, Holdyn started a new preschool that is about 10 minutes from the house. It is great that it is so close to home and he really seems to be enjoying it. He goes 3 days a week from 9-12. He is still really into anything that deals with firetrucks or firemen and he is also enjoying being a 'workerman'. He has just started soccer practice once a week and is having fun!
