Story Time

Hadley has the BEST big brother! He was insistant on her being able to 'play' in his room with him yesterday morning. I kept poping in on them to check and make sure they were ok and I found him reading to her! How sweet is that?!

I am full of wisdom!

At least for now! All of my wisdom is about to me removed! My wisdom teeth have given up and are waving the red flag. Only one of them is misbehaving, but if you have to go through the ordeal of removing one, you might as well remove the rest of them so you don't have to do it again. I was originally told only 2 would have to be removed, but the 3rd and final one obviously has not grown roots yet, and has a cyst around it that is starting to form. The doctor said he guarenteed it would eventually give me problems with that cyst, and since it didn't have roots yet, it would be the eaisest to pull so we might as well go ahead and yank that one too since we will be in there. At least I don't have all 4 of them! It's not like I have anymore brain cells after having 2 kiddos so I might as well not have anymore wisdom either!

Hadley also had her first babysitter today! She has never been left with anyone other than the grandparents. Having to go to this oral surgery consult today I knew it would be fine to take baby sister with me, but taking Holdyn and asking him to sit still for more than 3.2 seconds was asking for trouble big time! Our friend Chelsea was brave enough to come over and watch them so I could go alone. Both kiddos did great and we have her scheduled to come back to watch them on May 28th, the day of the procedure. I think I am more worried about Robbie taking care of them 24/7 for 7 days (per doctors orders) more than the actual procedure itself. I am confident he will do great, and I think it will be a great bonding experience for him and the kiddos since I am usually the primary caregiver due to his travel schedule.

Roley Poley

Looks like we might have 2 roley poleys in this house! Holdyn has his first 'pet' that is a roley poley (Ok technically his second pet, but firedog has more of a human status around here). He has appropriately named him 'roley poley'. How original! Roley Poley even went with us yesterday to get an oil change! Holdyn now can't figure out why roley poley is sleeping so much. =/ . I told him I guess Mr. Roley Poley is just very tired. He keeps going up to the bug catcher and screaming at the top of his lungs trying to wake roley poley up. He has been unsuccessful so far!

Our other roley poley might be baby sister. I put her down for a nap in her crib on her back and came back to find her on her tummy! She scooted sideaways in the crib and then rolled over obviously. The crib wedge might have helped her a little bit, but technically, it was her first time to roll over! She slept for a good 2 hours on her tummy snoring away!

4 months old

Ok so maybe like 4.5 months and almost 5 months but we were a little behind getting in to the doctor for Hadley's 4 month old well baby check up. She weighs 14lbs and 2oz and is 24.5in tall! She has gained 8lbs since birth and grown 5.5 inches since birth!! She is growing like a weed!

What a Weekend!

What a weekend! We had a blast going to Hilton Head for Patrick's 30th birthday. We had to change some plans around due to the weather but we still managed to have a good time. We had planned to grab lunch once we got on the island but a last minute decision landed us at Hooters. We invited dad to come with us but he politely declined and said he should probably take Holdyn to McDonalds instead. The boys joked that he didn't want to come because he would walk in the door and all the girls would say " Hey Bob!! What's up?!" After lunch we got on the road and got checked in to the hotel and decided to head down to the beach and the boys had fun chasing each other around with jelly fish. We didn't bring bathing suits cause we just assumed it would be too cold but the weather was actually warm and the pool was heated so the boys jumped in with their shorts on. After the pool we went back to the room, showered, rested, played pin the tail on the donkey, then headed to dinner at Frankie Bones. After dinner we headed out to a few different bars, one which was closed down, a crazy taxi cab driver named George, saw some interesting individuals at a place called 'One Hot Mamas' (note to self: NEVER let great grandma dance on the bar!) then met up with some other people and went on from there. It was pretty fun and we ended up at some interesting places! Thanks to MooMa and DooDa for keeping Hadley and to Pops for keeping Holdyn (MawMaw was out of town). I was so exhausted last night I put Hadley in bed at 7 and I crawled in bed right after her. I literally couldn't keep my eyes open anymore! I am getting too old to be out until 3a.m.!

So glad to get back home to these sweet kiddos!

I bet firedog enjoyed the 24 hours of peace and quiet!

Pool Days

On Tuesday, it was a warm day so Holdyn decided to fill up his inflatable pool so he and baby sister could have fun splashing in the water!

It's a hard life but somebody has to do it....

After the pool, baby sister was all smiles (as usual!)

After the kids got out of the pool, Holdyn started running a fever and complained of a sore throat. He passed out on the couch and of course, firedog was nearby! He seems fine later tonight though so hopefully it was just a fluke thing!

Looks can be deceiving

He is pretty cute, right? Innocent looking, right? WRONG!! The boy is in hot water!

Last week he saw me lift the toilet tank lid since the toilet wouldn't flush ( Turns out the water was shut off due to workmen in the street). After that we caught him 3-4 times picking up the lid and we reprimanded him each time (He loves playing workman and plumber). I guess he wasn't listening. Today at nap time he came out to say he had to use the potty. I told him to go then get back in bed. About 1 minute later i hear a loud CRASH and hear something breaking into a gazillion pieces. If I hadn't seen him picking up the lid all week I would have freaked out but as soon as I heard the crash I knew right away what had happened. He kept saying "Sorry Mommy Sorry Mommy Sorry Mommy Sorry Mommy Sorry Mommy". LOL. The boy knew he was in trouble!

Yes, thankfully he wasn't hurt, as my mother pointed out. Momma is not a very happy woman though! It is a custom porcelain toilet and we are not too sure that we can find a replacement top. We might have to replace the whole toilet but we are about to head down to the plumbing supply store and hope that they can help us find a new top! Holdyn REALLY better hope they can find a replacement!!

Hopefully this cute lil thing won't be breaking any toilets either!

It's a Hard Life

I have been knocking on wood the past few weeks but now I am confident to say out loud that Holdyn is offically potty trained! It has been a long road but thank goodness we all made it through in one piece! When he firsts wakes up in the morning I make him go straight to the potty. This morning he threw himself on the floor at the bottom of the potty and said " I am SO tired of this". I asked what he was tired of and he said " I am SOOO tired of going potty!" What a hard life that boy has!

Happy Birthday!

Great Grandmother would have been 78 today! We love and miss you! Holdyn and Hadley made something special for great granddaddy and mailed it to him today. Hope he enjoys it. I really wish she got to meet the kids. She would have loved them! I remember the last time we saw her she made us her frozen peanut butter pie! That was one of her specialities! I also remember the flag shoes. She used to wear shoes and they had all kinds of flags over them. Don't ask me why I remember that, but I just do! Happy Birthday great grandmother!

Fort Udinsky

Holdyn has been making forts in the living room. He has been calling them ' forks' though! He says " Come hide in my fork with me!!"

Sweet baby sister!

Silence..

Ah, yes. Silence has visited us once again. Last week it was pouring out the Tide detergent on the floor. At least he chose the bottle that was just about empty instead of the brand new one!

And then yesterday *sigh*... Yesterday was one of *those* days. Baby didn't sleep good the night before and Holdyn didn't take a nap and momma was just flat out exhausted! It was silent and I went looking for Holdyn and there he was in his bathroom with a sink FULL of water (and he still had the faucet on!) and he took his bath towel and submerged it in the sink. I said " What on earth are you doing!!!" He said " I am JUST making a PIE mommy!!"

Dear AK

Dear AK,
As I was getting a few things together for your birthday celebration next weekend, I decided to stop and reflect on last years festivities and decided that we need to make a few changes to this years celebration so it will be a superb 30th birthday extravaganza!

This year, it would be wise if I did not buy you a cake that had to be kept in the refrigerator, but the nice lady at Publix forgot to tell me that very important detail. This resulted in a cake practically melted and gooey. My next mistake would have to be those darn trick candles. That poor waiter brought it out all covered with a to-go box and everything trying not to let the candles blow out. Little did he know, we couldn't even get them to extinguish which resulted in helping the already melting cake melt faster and had to submerge them in some beer to eliviate the extreme fire hazard (too bad Holdyn wasn't nearby to lead everyone to safety). The most important mistake of the evening was having the cake brought out and you up and decided to use the restroom facilities about 3.4 seconds before the melted cake was placed in front of your rather empty seat! You then proceeded to take you dear sweet time which caused the poor cake to melt even faster (note the picture above patiently awaiting for you to arrive).

The end result: A big ooey gooey chocolate mess!

At least we had fun though and this year will be even better!

I promise to get a non ooey gooey needing refrigeration but kept at room temperature cake this year, I will leave out the trick candles, and I will make sure you are at the table before we light the eaisly extinguishable candles :)

Handy Manny

HoHo has a pretty handy Daddy and DooDa. The new bookshelves are finished and somewhat organized (at least to Holdyn's standards). I had planned on painting the trim the color of the wall but Holdyn insisted it had to bed red... just like a firetruck!

Hadley's first boat ride!

On Sunday we took Hadley on her first boat right. She was not thrilled with the life jacket at first, but once we got going she was fine. I think she liked the sound of the motor. She fussed a little when we stopped to fish but she was happy as long as we were moving! She was more concerned about how fashionable she was in her new pink bow, and Holdyn was more concerned about playing with the stinky squid in the holding tank.

So glad that we had a fireman on board in case we had an emergency!

2 Firedogs!

Paw Paw and GiGi brought Holdyn a 'stuffed' firedog. Holdyn is thrilled that he has TWO firedogs now! He sleeps with them both every night!

Speaking of Firedog, we took Bay for her yearly vet appointment on Thursday. Holdyn was pretty excited to take Bay to the doctor!

Waiting to see the doctor!

HoHo was very concerned when Bay was on the table and went over and held her paw all on his own so she wouldn't be scared while the vet checked her out!

Auntie and Fireman Joe's visit

Dinner at Sunbury Crab Company

Future Brother-in-laws

HoHo was so excited Auntie and Fireman Joe came to visit!

Auntie helping HoHo shave!

Lunch at Jalapenos

Fireman Joe and Auntie really spoiled 'fireman'! He got a whole new fire truck set, a whole police set, and an inflatable pool. It was too cold yesterday to fill the pool with water and play outside so Holdyn insisted we play with it inside!

Telling auntie bye :(
