Sunny Saturday

Yesterday we took MawMaw and Pops to our little 'island' that we have claimed our own. The kids had a blast. This was Hadley's first real beach experience. She LOVED splashing in the water. It was scorching hot so we spent most of our time in the water or under the tent. We grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs and Pops took Holdyn on the shortest tube ride in history. They tipped over right as we starting pulling them and Holdyn was not about to get back on that! He kept telling me "We sink mommy! We sink! It was a heavy load!"

Yes, I know she is in a boy floatie but it works perfectly fine and I refuse to buy a new one since she probably won't use it next summer!

Right when they got on the tube. HoHo was getting sleepy!

Happy was the first one to get topless!

Brother was nice to share and let sister play on his new alligator but as you can see, he was keeping a close eye on her!

The 'mom' do

It is sooo hot outside and I desperately needed a haircut. I ran and got one today. A 'mommy do' I guess you could call it, but it feels sooo much better and HoHo said it was pretty! That's all that matters I guess!

Sister is trying to eat me! It must be her dinnertime!

After a disasterous morning at swim lessons (HoHo got terrified 10 minutes in to the lesson and refused to get back in the pool) Holdyn was already in his bathing suit and wet so we decided to head down to Forsyth park to the new spray pad and water fountain. He had a blast running through the water. He also got to play with another little 16 month old girl that was just adorable. He was telling the little girls mom that his baby was much smaller than her little girl!

He said " Mommy, I'm taking a shower and getting all clean for you!"

Sister is getting much better at sitting up.. not 100% but she can make it for a few seconds! She was getting bored with her infant toys so I went and got 18.. yes, 18 batteries to fill up the younger infant toys to maybe give her more of an incentive to sit up. She is loving her little leap frog drum and she is a pro already at banging on it!

I told Holdyn that next summer, baby sister would be out there running in the fountains with him!

Playing at the park on a hot summer morning is exhausting work!

Tornado Warning

I had 2 little tornados that ripped through my house this afternoon. The first one was a 3 year old. At 'nap time' Holdyn got in the pantry (that handy pantry lock is not working... he shows me how to open the lock!) and got a roll of paper towels. He came running to me and said " Come see what I did in my room!!" Well I knew it would nothing be anything I would approve of!! I asked what in the world he did and he said " Well my fire trucks needed a driveway!"

A little while later I found this by the garbage can. He said he cleaned it all up... just for me! Sweet boy.

The second tornado of the day was a 6 month old! Sister 'walked' over and pulled over a vase of decorative sticks and she was holding one so proudly! I really never had to put anything up when Holdyn was a baby besides putting locks on the cabinets. Hope this is not a preview of the next few months when she gets more mobile!

Swimming Lessons = Cancelled

I know I am a day late, but I didn't get a chance to post yesterday!! Wanted to say Happy Father's Day to my sweet little Blueberry Muffin! We love you very much and appreciate everything you do so I am able to stay home with our babies. Also Happy Father's Day to DooDa and Pops, and PawPaw!

Our first round of swim lessons started today.. or were supposed to. We got there and the teacher showed up when the lesson was supposed to end.. not at the begining! So that had to be rescheduled. There is only one other little girl in his class so I am happy about them having lots of one on one instruction. He got to get in a play a little bit and we will hopefully start the real lesson tomorrow!! He was telling everyone " Look, I am a little Sting Ray!"

OH Holdyn!

The boy cracks me up... sometimes! I found him with a stack of paper and scissors, tape, and a pen. I asked him what in the world he was doing. He looked at me with a VERY stern voice and said " I am JUST doing my SPENCES!!!" His 'expenses' he was trying to say. His daddy comes home and talks about doing his expenses... guess it has rubbed off on the little boy!

Later I was busy typing an email to the Air Conditioning company that has not showed up for their appointment in the past 3 days. I was so mad and just concentrated fully on what I was typing that I didn't realize what Holdyn was doing. (Don't worry, the owner of the air company called me today to get things settled!) I went to find him and he was FULLY CLOTHED in the kitchen sink full of water!! UGH!! What a stinker!

The Big Move

Sister has been sleeping in our room since she was born. That was just much eaiser having to get up with her multiple times a night. Now that she has slept 2 nights in a row all night (Still knocking on wood!) I decided to go ahead and move her crib back to her room so we can at least somewhat get our room back. I took her to get weighed today and she is 15lbs 11oz and she is 26in long! She is growing up way too fast!

Fire Marshall Bill

Holdyn got to go today to take a tour of Fire Marshall Bills fire station. We baked the firefighters brownies and off we went. Holdyn was thrilled to tour the equipment truck and the ladder truck. Billy was such a good sport and opened every nook and cranny to show Holdyn everything a firetruck carried. He got to see the sleeping quarters, and got to meet all of the other firefighters and watch them cook lunch. He also got to tell them the story of "the man was burning some trash and my mom called 991 and the firetruck came to put out the fire, then there was a BIG snake the firemen moved! Then I saw another snake that my dad killed, and I saw mice too!" He got to show the firemen his firesuit, fireax, walkie talkie, and they were pretty impressed with his 'fire rope'. Holdyn's parting question to one of the firemen was " Do ya'll have a firedog here?" They didn't but he was quick to tell them about his firedog, Bay, at home. He got to bring 2 fire themed pencils home. He was so excited and will be using those for awhile!

Billy showing him all of the cool stuff

He got to sit in Billy's seat on the firetruck!

The tire of the fire truck engine was taller than Holdyn!

We are on a roll....

*KNOCK ON WOOD* !!! Sister has always been a much better sleeper than brother ever thought about being, but she was waking frequently at night just for 'comfort feedings'. Doctor Stone said that babies are capable of sleeping through the night at 6 months old. I decided to take his advice and deal with these 'comfort feedings' until she hit the 6 month mark. Now that we have met that milestone, we decided to bite the bullet and jump head first in to 'sleep training' Friday night. Most claim it takes 3 nights but you must be consistent. We decided to put her in the pack and play upstairs so we could just let her 'cry it out'. Friday night she did cry off and on (nothing drastic that made me run in there). I was prepared to shut her door and ignore it. Daddy was more nervous about it than I was and went and opened her door before he went to bed :) . Saturday night she was up from about 11-12 just kind of wimpering on and off but she soothed herself and woke up at 6:45 for the day. Sunday night I put her to bed at about 7:45. It is now 4:30 a.m. and I have not heard a peep out of her! Yes, I have checked on her. She is breathing and, of course, her face is completely covered! Why, you ask, am I up at a time like this with a sleeping baby? Well for the past 6 months my body has been trained to have no more than a total of 4 hours of sleep a night. I fell asleep at 10:30 last night and at 2:30a.m. I was wide awake ready for the day! I guess I need to sleep train myself now! I am going to leave sister upstairs the rest of the week just to make sure we have hit gold (and just to make sure she won't wake up brother since they have a jack-n-jill bedroom/bathroom), then I will move her to her room before the weekend. If I would have known sleep training was this easy, I would have done this to brother about THREE years ago!!!

Sweet baby sister sleeping at 1 week old!

No Boys Allowed!

Sister and I are enjoying a quiet night home alone.. no boys!! Just the girls tonight!! Here are some cute pics I got of her tonight to mark her 6 month birthday!

Dreamland

Both kiddos passed out in the living room this afternoon... Holdyn in his favorite sleepy chair (and in his firesuit of course.. you never know when that next 'call' will come in!) and sister fell sound asleep rolling around playing on the floor! It's tough being 3 and 6 months old!

First Tubing Experience

We took HoHo tubing yesterday for the first time. He rode with AK and had a BLAST! They would ride over a wave and Holdyn would say " That was AWESOME!" He had a blast on a little island and built sand castles, and played in the water pretending to be a 'bear' and getting us. He was swimming and kicking his legs like a little fish! He will be so ready for swim lessons next week!

Mac and cheese for lunch on the beach! YUM!

Contagious

These chairs must have a sleepy spell today. HoHo fell asleep in them today and now Pops is sound asleep in them. Fireman made Pops read "Sammy the Seal" one too many times. Now Pops is snoring like a seal. A LOUD seal!

He does not stop

The fireman does not stop. Literally. From the time he wakes up from the time he goes to bed. He has been a complete BEAR the past 2 days. I suppose it is because we are off his normal 'schedule' we have during school. He has been in a horrible mood, screaming at me, throwing toys, ripping sheets off my bed, throwing pillows, jerking toys from sister, pulling her boppy out from underneath her, etc. It's like he just doesn't know what to do unless he keeps the same routine. Kinda hard to do that in the summer! To top it all off I dropped my camera in the pool today and it won't work anymore. I have cried enough in the past 2 days that was really not needed! Holdyn goes to Calvary all next week for half days and then he starts swim lessons for 2 weeks. We signed him up today and he was very excited to see the pool and of course he didn't forget to tell everyone there that he is a fireman! I took the kiddos grocery shopping yesterday and Holdyn was running through the aisles in full fire gear throwing random things in the grocery cart. I was pulling things out and putting them back as fast as he was putting things back in the buggy. I left not getting half of what we needed and honestly, I can't tell you what we actually did buy. He refused to have quiet time today, but I did just find him passed out in the living room so I better go enjoy a few moments of silence.

It's hard work being a fireman!

When you're having a bad day.....

looking at this makes everything better...........

Happy Monday!

Fishing Buddies

MawMaw and Pops took Holdyn and Hadley to a kids fishing tournament on Saturday. They even had real squid for bait (see in Pops hand!) They didn't catch anything but Holdyn had a great time. He was fully prepared with his fishing 'hole' and his tackle box full of stuff!

6 months old

Sister is 6 months old today! I can't believe it has flown by so fast. It seems just like yesterday we heard her first cry. She is eating pretty much anything you put in front of her. She is still the happiest baby and smiles all the time... literally!

This picture totally describes sister and how she usually looks at brother like , ' hey, stop that!'

It's hard work being a big brother!

Sister enjoys being on her tummy more and more everyday. She is scooting as hard as she can trying to get whatever she is trying to reach!

She still loves her walker and spends a lot of her free time chasing the dog around the kitchen in it!

Gilligan's Island

We had a great weekend on the boat. We parked at a little island and spent the day playing games on the beach and playing in the water. We also had fun tubing and skiing! We made hamburgers and hotdogs on our new $10 grill and had an awesome time!

Thoughtless Thursday

Holdyn climbed in bed with baby sister this morning for a few snuggles!

Then it was time for some snuggles with firedog!

Sister had her first 'bitter biscuit' this afternoon. They sure are messy but she loved it!
