Baby Miller

My heart is heavy today after learning of the passing of Baby Miller. He passed away last night from SMA sleeping on his mommy's chest. Please keep the Woodruff family in your prayers during this difficult time.

A scare

Hadley gave us a huge little scare a few weeks ago. I took her to her 18 month well baby checkup and mentioned how she is holding food in her mouth on her tongue A LOT and won't swallow it for h.o.u.r.s. The doctor had many suggestions of what it 'could' be. Some very simple and some VERY scary. Well don't ever tell this momma the scary option because I immediately go in to panic mode and freak out. They scheduled us the very next day for testing (and they thought I would sleep that night?! Yeah right!!) She had to do a barrium test. She had to lay on a table and drink a substance out of her sippie cup. Well this momma knew that she would be BEYOND furious that strange people were holding her down and she would have nothing to do with that. She has been playing 'baby' recently and loves giving her babies bottles and pacifiers. I threw a bottle in the diaper bag knowing good and well the sippie cup wouldn't work and praying the bottle would! Daddy drove home early from out of town to go to the appointment with us (he and his boss flipped a coin to see if he would go or not cause I said I didn't care and the boss didn't want to make the decision and Robbie and his indecisive self knew he wanted to come but knew if it was nothing he had other obligations at work. So the boss flipped the coin and guess what.... Robbie came home early!! I was like is that seriously how ya'll decided?!?!) So we layed her on the table with the sippy and she flipped out. After a few minutes they decided that wasn't going to work. I grabbed the bottle out of the bag and Robbie looked at me like I had 4 heads. He said "Are you crazy?!! Now that's all she's going to want!!" Umm only one time wasn't going to kill her and it was that or sticking a tube down her throat in to her stomach. I think we all would have preferred the bottle at that point. She also preferred to sit up and drink it instead of being held down so Robbie stood on the machine and held her with one hand and held the bottle in the other hand and the girl drank it like it was a big mac, fries, and a milk shake all rolled in to one!

Geez I was so smart for bringing that bottle! ;)

Is this not the coolest picture! (Yes I did ask before I took it! You can see her skull on the left, her ear pretty much right in the middle and if you look at the top right where you see some writing, look on the xray and that dark li;ttle spot is the bottle nipple!! After that you will see a dark line (darker than anything on the face) and that is the barrium going down. Robbie missed out on getting to watch it live so the wonderful Dr. Shapiro showed him the pictures afterwards. Dr. Shapiro (and her husband who is also a doctor) took care of me while I was pregnant with Hadley. We told her who we were and she remembered us right away! It was so neat to see her again and for her to meet Hadley! Hadley went right too her and she got to love on her for a little bit! She did all my ultrasounds (not on my belly) when I got an infection during my pregnancy and her husband, the male Dr. Shapiro admitted me in to the hospital for I.V. antibiotics and did my surgery to remove the infection. They couldn't put me to sleep since I was 7 months pregnant so we had to do it at the hospital just numbed up really good then I had to stay afterwards for the antibiotics and for the baby to be monitored. It was too risky to wait 2 months for the baby to come out because then infection could have spread to the bone and if that happened, it would have gotten to the baby and we would have had a lot more problems to deal with. Being awake during surgery is very strange. The talk between the doctors and nurses cracked me up. They were all sitting there talking about what TV shows they watched the night before and who they liked on them and who they didn't and what they were going to cook for dinner that night, etc. It was just like a group of friends hanging out talking!! I was like uh hello guys you know my body is open! Let's pay attention and not get off track! Makes you wonder what they really talk about when you are put under anesthesia!

Right after the test Hadley was so glad to be done. She doesn't look too thrilled with us! She had Barrium all around her mouth! Good news was there was no blockage and she looked absolutely perfect! Thank you, daddy for coming home early to help calm our nerves and to help during the testing!

Feels a lot like....

Summer!! Can you say H.O.T. ! It was so hot we couldn't even walk outside yesterday. It was too hot to even go to the pool. I knew the water would be so hot it was probably boiling and you could have cooked dinner in it. Walking on the driveway was impossible. It was like walking on hot coals! We decided to try to be smart and stay inside most of the day!

This is sisters first pony tail. Is she not the cutest thing you have ever seen?! I'm not too sure that she was thrilled with it!
Whenever I am in another room and I hear her fussing, I know exactly what is wrong. She LOVES playing with this baby doll stroller (It was mine when I was little!) She loves climbing in it but then she gets stuck and can't get out.. ha!
She got caught in daddy's office. She was helping herself to the entire box of Kleenex!

Look how peacful and angelic this little boy looks when he is sleeping... Just wait till he wakes up... HA!

We are in the process where I am not needing the big full diaper bag everywhere we go. Sometimes we can get away with our smaller little bookbag since we are carrying much less now that she is getting old. She loves wearing it on her back. She looks like such a big girl! She needs to stop growing up and stay mommys baby forever!

Lesson # 2,359,940.... never leave your camera in the reach of small children. I cracked up the other day when I turned on the camera and found these 2 pictures. What a clown!

The big 6-0

We gathered together with family over this very special weekend (father's day if you forgot!) to celebrate Paw Paw and GiGi's 60th wedding anniversary. It is rare these days that people stay married that long! We had a wonderful dinner and a great time with family. Ever since PawPaw's illness, all he wants to eat his fried chicken. I went last week to 'babysit' him while GiGi had a hair appointment and I asked him what he wanted to eat for his party and he said.. "FRIED CHICKEN!!!". When GiGi got home I asked her what she wanted to have to eat for her party. Without her knowing what Paw Paw had said, she said " ANYTHING but FRIED CHICKEN!!!" Ha Ha! Guess after 60 years of marriage you can read each others minds!
A big father's day squeeze. These are the best hugs anybody could ask for!

DooDa and his sweet baby sister! She loves her DooDa!

MooMa trying to wrangle her 2 youngest grandchildren (Don't know why it turned out kinda blury)

GiGi had a mini boquet of flowers and Paw Paw had a bountinere

The cake was absolutely beautiful. It's one of those types of cakes that is so pretty that you don't want to cut in to it! It came from Baker's Pride and let me tell you it was some kind of delicious!

Sweet Paw Paw with his boutinere upside down!

It was a long day of festivities and Holdyn passed out as soon as we got home!

They are in!

Not the best picture. I will get some more today when I go to measure the windows but all the windows and back door is in! Just missing the front door! It's starting to come together! Plumbing and Electrical are done (i think) so next comes..... drywall (I think?!) I could probably be a builder after this process.... ha! Maybe I will stick to building arts and crafts with the kids!
When we got back in the car, Hadley kept handing me the camera saying 'CHEESE!!!' So I took her picture so she could say 'CHEESE!!' Ha! She is such a ham!

Speechless

I can't even put in to words what this little buddle of joy means to me! I may be a lot a little biased, but she is the most precious thing ever and I love watching her little attitude personality develop right before my eyes!

I bet....

I bet ya'll are sick of seeing different stages of the house being built. Don't worry, this one was from yesterday so I am sure I will post another one soon from today once I get over there ;)

Wordless Thursday: One of my loves!

Do you see it?!

Do you see what I see?!!!
That IS the begining of the roof my friends! YES!! The builder said once the roof gets on, things will fly.... well my wings are dusted off and ready... I'm ready to fly!

A Hiking We Will Go!

The neighborhood pool was closed today for maintenance so we had to find another activity to keep ourselves busy. I have been passing a nature area and thought one day I need to take the kids there so today we decided was a good day to check it out! We got there at 12:15 and my smart self didn't even think that we would be miserable in the heat at that time of the day!

Holdyn had a great time running up and down the trails and collecting rocks and sticks and looking for wildlife.
Sister just took it all in from the comfort of her stroller!
We had a great time! Holdyn asked to pull all the windows down on the way home. We were driving and all of our hair was blowing in the wind and the kids were just laughing and Holdyn said " Mom, this is the BEST day EVER!"

It's begining to look a lot like....

Christmas a real house! The roof and brick and drywall will get started this week! Holdyn was so excited that the stairs got put in this week and he got to go up and see his room. He has been so patient and was thrilled to see it!
Can't get any cuter than a baby in a tutu bathing suit!
Pool time with daddy! She is loving the water this summer! We have really enjoyed living right by a pool and we have been taking advantage of it every day. Totally different than last summer when we didn't live near a pool! They have a baby pool in our new neighborhod so I know Hadley is gonna love that so she can be 'independent'. Holdyn got there later and I was already in the pool so I didn't get any pictures of him. He is much more comfortable going under water this summer with his goggles. I have 2 little fish on my hands!

Dad has been dying to give Hyres a REAL bone.... well he is out of town and missed it so we had to document it for him! It was a big ole ham bone with vegetables left over all on it. The boy was in heaven! Mom gave it to him and after he finished he came jumping in her lap like he was thanking her!

The 'Look' !

We took sister and Holdyn to the pool today. When we got home, daddy had to wash his car and he had 2 little helpful elfs that were willing to splash in the soap bucket! Hadley gave me the 'look' when I got in her way! She was having too much fun! She was taking the soap and rubbing it all over her body like she was in the bathtub! HA!
Holdyn was also very willing to help. His favorite part was the water hose and cleaning the soap off the car!

Cool baby and Pops! She has been wearing her sun glasses everyday then she will bring them to you and she wants you to put them on!

Holdyn had so much fun at the pool and cookout on Memorial Day that he passed out at 6pm on the couch! Unfourtantly he woke up at 3am the next morning ready for the day! That boy likes to stay on his schedule! He goes to bed at the same time everyday and gets up at the same time everyday. If you veer away from that, even by a few minutes, you are in big trouble and will pay for it the following day!
At Jalapenos with the 'group' over the weekend. We had a great time but will miss John when he moves to North Carolina in the next few weeks!
We then went to the movies to see Hangover 2. Guess I hadn't been out in awhile because I was SO tired. We were with a group of 8 and I ended up falling asleep at the begining of the movie on the shoulder of the guy next to me who was a complete stranger. I was mortified to find out that the group didn't wake me up but this nice guy let me sleep on him during the whole movie.... and I heard I was snoring pretty loud also.. HA! When we were parking we found a lady who left a rotten banana in her car. If you look close, you can see it on the middle console. Who leaves rotten bananas in their car?!
My 2 little fishies headed to the pool today!
