I must be crazy!

It rained pretty much ALL day.. until about 4 this afternoon. Around 5:00, the kids were stir crazy so my crazy self decided to let them paint outside!

Boy did they have a good time!!

Hadley wasn't too sure about this whole painting thing.....

Holdyn knew exactly what to do and was happy to show her the ropes!

Making handprints with paint!! Holdyn said it 'tickled' :)

He taught Hadley how to do it... this is her hand print... how cute!

Holdyn's multiple hand prints....

They had a blast!

Hadley finally got the hang of it....

She decided painting her body was much more fun than painting on the paper!

I am glad I stripped her clothes off!

They both headed straight to the bath tub where daddy hand fed them homemade popcorn like they were baby birds!!

Let's just say, the water was FILTHY when they got out of the tub!!

We had a fun 'rain day' !!

Emotional but Fun Day!

Today was the day that we packed up and headed out early to go to Skidaway Island to Holdyn's school from last year. Not only was he excited about skipping school for the day, he was also thrilled to see the progress on the big bridge they are building right by the school (he hasn't been back since we moved), excited to see the firetrucks and the firemen, and to see teacher Maria and teacher Mary!

On our way there, he spotted the progress on the bridge. He thought that was so cool to see how much they have gotten accomplished since he last saw it, and he loved seeing all the cranes!

We arrived a few minutes early (we couldn't be late for the firetrucks, you know!), so we joined in teacher Mary's class for music time. Hadley sat right next to Holdyn. Holdyn kept looking around the room trying to figure out all of the new faces and wondering where all of his classmates were from last year!

Holdyn was VERY protective of Hadley. He kept holding her hand to show her the classroom and he kept putting his arm around her. SO sweet!

The firemen finally showed up! Right off the bat, one of them looked at Holdyn and said "I know you! You come to my station all the time!!" Oh my gosh. That's bad that they reckognize him!!

Within 5 minutes of them arriving, they got an emergency call. One of the firemen had to leave with the majority of the gear. Holdyn had decided to bring his real assistant fire chief hat to show the firemen. Luckily he did, because fireman Steve had to borrow it since his was taken by the other firefighter to the emergency! Holdyn was VERY concerned that they would take it with them and forget to give it back to him!

Hadley could have cared less about the fire talk. She was busy taking care of all of the baby dolls and cooking in the kitchen!

After the safety talk, the other fireman had returned from the emergency and all the classes headed outside for a look at the trucks! Holdyn piped in to tell everyone that that firetruck was called a pumper truck! The firefighters were very impressed!!

They put all their gear on for the kids and they even had their oxygen tanks and masks with them that Holdyn also was quick to point out the proper name of the mask was a breathing apparratus!

Skidaway Isand Preschool (and Holdyn and Hadley) all stood in front of the ladder truck for a picture!

I was so glad we got to go back but it was also emotional. I really miss Ms. Maria and Ms. Mary and the atmosphere of the preschool. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE where Holdyn goes to school now, and we love Ms. Debbie, but today just brought back so many memories. My eyes might have filled up with tears a few times.... ok maybe they did.

Holdyn's Pre-K teacher last year, Ms. Maria (She is now the director) and Holdyn and Hadley

Hadley was VERY interested in her necklace! Haha!! That's our accesory girl for you! She loves her jewerly and bows!

Holdyn and the Firemen!

He is the only one that got to sit in the firetruck!

Playing in teacher Mary's room... just like the old days!

Hadley playing in teacher Mary's class!

Hadley decided to go play in the 1 year old room... the toys were more her speed in there. She even got to have snack time with this class!

Teacher Mary and the kids!!!
We had a great morning and afternoon. It was a blast from the past!

Boys will be boys

I bet you are asking yourself, "What in the world is that tiny object high up in the tree?" Well let's zoom in a little closer and you will see it is not so tiny.

It is Holdyn's very large beach bucket. "How did his beach bucket get stuck in the tree?" you ask yourself... Well very simple let me explain......

Do you see the red circle in the center of the picture? That would be Holdyn's brand new remote control helicopter that Auntie just sent him. The day before this he flew the helicopter in to our neighbors yard and it landed in their POOL!!! I just knew it was dead and it had only had it for 2 days. I decided to attempt the ole tried and true method of soaking the helicopter in rice overnight. Robbie told me that I was crazy and it wasn't going to work. Well it couldn't hurt anything, so I decided to be stubborn and at least give it a shot! Well guess what... the next morning we got up and Holdyn ran right to the helicopter and low and behold the next thing I knew it was flying around my living room! He was squealing in delight! Daddy told him he had to fly it outside so it wouldn't crash the helicopter in to anything inside and break something. He listened and went outside and the poor little guy (still learning how to control it and manuever it) Got it stuck WAY up in a tree (and that picture is zoomed all the way in!) Daddy tried for over an hour throwing anything he could find up there trying to get it to fall. Sticks, bricks, beach buckets, etc. Well the beach bucket got stuck too!! At least the helicopter has some company!! We are on day 2 now hoping for some strong wind to bring it crashing to the ground. If we can save it from the bottom of the swimming pool, we HAVE to be able to save it from the top of a pine tree!! Holdyn is hoping a squirrell will come along and knock it down. If it never comes down, Auntie did call tonight and said she will be buying him a new one. He will be excited to call her in the morning and I will let her tell him the news!!!

Until then, he is keeping busy digging in the dirt. We just had a huge rain storm and it made tons of puddles and holes so his dump trucks, tractors, diggers, and back hoes have been very busy the past few days!

THAT mom

When I was little and in school, we were NEVER allowed to skip a day for any reason. Thankfully my birthday fell during the summer or I would have been trying to play hookie on days like that! I want to be a mom where on rare occasions, I will let my kids skip school. I will be THAT mom. Holdyn has never skipped school (ok, I know he is only 5 and in Pre-K... but still!). I am being THAT mom and letting Holdyn have his first 'skip school' day next week. We ran in to his old teacher this week, Ms. Maria. She told us that 'Firetruck Day' was going to take place next week. All of the firemen come to the school. They bring the firetrucks, and even their fire dog! She knows how much Holdyn loves anything fire related so she poked and prodded and twisted my arm (ok, maybe it didn't take much convincing!) to let Holdyn skip school and go back to his old school for the day to participate on Firetruck day. He is SO excited and I am too! I can't wait for teacher Mary to see how big the kids have gotten. She was Holdyn's teacher when he was in the 2 year old class and she has been loving on Hadley since she was 2 weeks old and Hadley always jumped out of my arms to go to teacher Mary! And yes, I probably will let the kids skip school on their birthdays!!!

Last year on Firetruck Day

Holdyn at home with just SOME of his rescue vehicle collection!

Cooking!

MooMa and Holdyn baked Gingerbread men together!! He had so much fun baking and decorating them, then he took them all to school to share with his friends in his class!!
