Holdyn's Headquarters

Since you got the tour of Hadley's digs yesterday, I figured we will do a little home tour and I will show you a different room every day. I don't think I have shown every room to document to good ole blog since we built our house and moved in in September 2011. After moving with 2 children, 2 dogs, a husband that travels a lot, and the kids activites, it has taken awhile for me to get every room just how I want it. I rearranged several rooms a thousand times just a few times until I was happy and found the most practical space and the right fit for everything. This week I finally said "I have the house EXACTLY how I want it! I think everything is in the perfect spot!" The hubs said he would believe it when I quit rearranging things!

Walking in to Holdyn's room:

His reading nook

The play area with his train table, and shelving system with all of his toys and puzzles

He has a HUGE room with tons of space. He has his own walk in closet and own private bathroom!

Since Hadley just moved out of her crib, I needed to do something with it for the time being. It is one of those cribs that can convert to a crib, toddler bed, or daybed. For the time being, I made it in to a daybed/sofa type thing. It has all of his fire pillows and firedogs in it. He can sit here and watch TV or read books. I found him here the other day with a stack of books on his ottoman reading :)

Holdyn has a nice new queen bed that he REFUSES to sleep in. It is the oddest thing. He will only sleep on his little couch that folds out that is in his reading nook. He mainly stays downstairs in the playroom, so until he outgrows this 'phase', his room is really just a guest room. His bed has been used maybe a total of 6 times, and that is only by people staying with us here and there, not by Holdyn!

If you couldn't tell, his room has a 'space theme'

Love the planets hanging from the ceiling

One of my 'requirements' when building, was to have a bathroom upstairs in Holdyn's room. When he is a teenager, I think it will be nice for him to have his own bathroom (boys are gross!). It will be nice that Holdyn and Hadley won't have to share bathrooms!

Walking in to his bathroom

His bathroom is a polk a dotted whale theme

And of course the monogrammed towel :D

Hadley's Bathroom

Since you got the debut of Hadley's bedroom yesterday, I figured we should throw in her bathroom also! This has not changed since we moved in, so if you have seen this before, don't expect to find any changes :)
Walking in to her bathroom... I love the black chandelier... very simple, not too much and not too little, but I think it goes great in here. I found this for a steal at Ikea and I had our builder install it instead of buying a more expensive one when he was having all of the light fixtures put in the house!
I bought her shower curtain at Bed Bath and Beyond and kinda did the 'theme' around that. It has little shiny sparkly bead type things at the top and bottom. It gives it a little texture and a nice little shimmer! I had her initials monogrammed in the middle of the shower curtain. I already had the chandelier (it was originally meant for the master bathroom), so once I got the shower curtain, they went perfect together, so I swapped a few things around, and just ran with it!

Need a cheap but adorable idea for wall hangings? Right before we moved from Savannah, the kids were taking a bubble bath together in my big whirl pool bath tub. They always loved doing this. It gave them plenty of room to 'swim' around and kept them busy for hours on end playing with all of the bubbles. Turning on the jets and seeing the bubbles triple = more fun! I snapped these pictures with my regular camera of them playing in the tub. I printed them out on dollar store photo paper, and got the frames at target for $5. I had my black and white theme going on, but I wanted it a little more 'girly' so I wanted to add some light pink throughout. A simple little bottle of pink acrylic paint and a few polk a dots later, and SHAZAM! I think they turned out SOO cute and everyone always comments on how much they love them.

Another snap shot of them together. I did the snap thing with the pink paint, expect I changed the pattern a little bit... I didn't want to 'over polk a dot' ourselves!

The towels match the shower curtain. I had her initials monogrammed on the hand towel, and her full name monogrammed on the big towel.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have done the pink a little darker. It does kind of get washed out and it is hard to see on the shower curtain. It is so hard to tell something like that when you are having something monogrammed and have to make a decision on the color. You really don't get the full 'view' until it's finished and you get it in the room, then it's too late to make any changes!

If you ever come over, you are more than welcome to borrow the elmo potty hanging on the side of the toilet if you need it :) It has built in handles and everything.. not much more you could ask for!!

Her vanity and her bows and bow holder. I LOVE her vanity. It is the exact same ones we have in the master bedroom. One of my 'must haves' on the bucket list when we were building was I wanted furniture looking type pieces for our vanities... I didn't want the traditional cabinet looking vanities.

You can't come in to the Udinsky houehold without a sense of humor. You know big brother has been lurking around in Hadley's bathroom (they pretty much share the same bathroom... he refuses to use his... that's for another post!) when you find a rubber snake in the sink!! This snake was very small but the longer you leave him in water, the larger he grows. He is on night 3 in the water and he has gotten HUGE!! Hadley is not afraid of him though and loves him just as much as Holdyn does!

Baby to Big Girl!

It finally happened.... We had to bite the bullet and move Hadley out of the crib in to a big girl bed. She loved her crib, but she was just outgrowing it. Her new mattress and boxspring arrived this morning. She was so excited! Come on in and take a look.....

Love Love Love the monogram decal that I found online! It turned out better than I expected!

I loved how it all turned out!! The white comforter (I know... that is brave right there, but let's knock on some wood, shall we?!) really lightened up the room and looks great with the dark furniture. The furniture she has has been passed down several generations and I just love it. I am so glad that she has it and will be able to pass it along to her children!

She had no problems going to sleep in her new bed. Yes, that is a bib she is wearing! Ha! Some days she walks around with a bib on and refuses to take it off, and no that is not a bruise under her eye like it looks, that is just from the sun! She has been having too much fun on the boat and building sand castles at the beach!

Sweet Dreams baby girl. The first night out of your crib and another milestone that you are growing up to be a big girl!

SO sad :(

Back on March 6, 2011 I told you about Lucy. I have followed Lucy's long road ever since her diagnosis. Lucy was doing amazing and soared through many set backs. Lucy's mom, Kate, just got horrible news about 2 days ago that little Lucy is not expected to make it much longer. Please keep this family in your thoughts/prayers. My heart is so heavy for Lucy and her loved ones.
It takes somebody like Lucy to make you realize, who really cares the HUGE mess these kids make?

No.... it doesn't really matter. Life is to short to worry about the kids making a mess. Who really cares?

There are more important things in life.......

Love snuggling with clean babies before bed time <3

Kids Fishing Tournament

It only took forever a short while for the princess to walk herself from the car, to the stocked ponds with her bright pink fishing pole and Holdyn's fire hat in tow.

Holdyn cast his line out and he immediately caught a fish! So glad because that was the lone fish for the day! The place was packed, so the little fishies didn't have a chance!

It's hard rocking the pink and brown dress and big brown bow with your pink fishing pole! At least she has some manners and covered her hiney :)

Summer Camp 101

Week 1.... down in the books. Well, really only like half a week. Monday they were closed for Memorial Day, Tuesday he didn't go *cough* mom kinda forgot *cough*, so he started on Wednesday. Wednesday morning was full of tears and lots of dragging/pulling him in to the building.. literally! His nerves were a little calmed after he found out (I had no clue of the weeks schedule) that they were taking a field trip. His first time.... EVER... on a BUS!! O.M.G. Probably best momma didn't know this, or he MIGHT have been absent on Wednesday also!! They went to this indoor inflatable play place and he had a great time, but still wasn't sold on the whole 'summer camp' thing. Wednesday night he told me that he wasn't going again. I told him that we HAD to tell the teacher, so he HAD to go Thursday, and *cough* that could be his last day. Ok... he was fine with that. I picked him up Thursday and he pulled my head down and whispered in my ear 'Remember to tell the teacher today is my last day!'.... kid doesn't forget anything!! Thankfully, after the teacher caught wind, she reminded him that they were having carnival games on Friday and he would be wining prizes and how much fun he would have (The theme was carnival week). He was again, OK with going... but JUST one more day! This morning he asked me was tomorrow his day off... 'yes' I replied, the next day? 'yes'.... the next day? 'no, you go back next week' .... "AWWWW MAN!!!! Well next summer can we just forget about summer camp all together and not go at all??" Sure Holdyn! He skipped/ran right in today and told me bye before we even got to the door...
Takes the little stinker a little time to warm up :)

He just wants to stay home with his momma and baby sister!! He is afraid he will miss out on something! I signed him up for the 1/2 day program, not the full day, so that was also an incentive 'not having to stay for lunch OR take a nap'.... pretty cool to a 5 almost 6 but let's not even talk about that year old!
