We are on a roll....
*KNOCK ON WOOD* !!! Sister has always been a much better sleeper than brother ever thought about being, but she was waking frequently at night just for 'comfort feedings'. Doctor Stone said that babies are capable of sleeping through the night at 6 months old. I decided to take his advice and deal with these 'comfort feedings' until she hit the 6 month mark. Now that we have met that milestone, we decided to bite the bullet and jump head first in to 'sleep training' Friday night. Most claim it takes 3 nights but you must be consistent. We decided to put her in the pack and play upstairs so we could just let her 'cry it out'. Friday night she did cry off and on (nothing drastic that made me run in there). I was prepared to shut her door and ignore it. Daddy was more nervous about it than I was and went and opened her door before he went to bed :) . Saturday night she was up from about 11-12 just kind of wimpering on and off but she soothed herself and woke up at 6:45 for the day. Sunday night I put her to bed at about 7:45. It is now 4:30 a.m. and I have not heard a peep out of her! Yes, I have checked on her. She is breathing and, of course, her face is completely covered! Why, you ask, am I up at a time like this with a sleeping baby? Well for the past 6 months my body has been trained to have no more than a total of 4 hours of sleep a night. I fell asleep at 10:30 last night and at 2:30a.m. I was wide awake ready for the day! I guess I need to sleep train myself now! I am going to leave sister upstairs the rest of the week just to make sure we have hit gold (and just to make sure she won't wake up brother since they have a jack-n-jill bedroom/bathroom), then I will move her to her room before the weekend. If I would have known sleep training was this easy, I would have done this to brother about THREE years ago!!!
