The Christmas Season

We started off the holiday season with Holdyn's Christmas program and party at school. Holdyn is my child who is deathly afraid of strangers and large crowds. Hadley on the other hand, she prefers the crowds and will go to anyone that will hold her! As soon as Holdyn walked in the church for his Christmas program, his teacher said she saw 'the look' on his face.... the look of fear. He clammed up and was terrified since the church was packed with all of the parents and grandparents. Ms. Jeanie is the assistant in Holdyn's class and as soon as he started to meltdown she scooped him up and he became her 'helper'. We LOVE Ms. Jeanie! She is so sweet and Holdyn has been very comfortable with her since the first day of class. He wouldn't stand up and sing with his class but he was up there in Ms. Jeanie's lap!

After the Christmas program, the kids enjoyed snowman pancakes. What a treat! Holdyn dug right in!

Poor Child!! She does have some kissable cheeks though!

We also make a Gingerbread house during the holiday season.... well, Holdyn and MooMa do! Last year the gingerbread house was a big fail. The company made you ice the sides and construct the 'house' but then you had to let the icing dry so it would be a sturdy structure (which meant it needed to sit overnight). What child is going to understand they have to wait overnight to finish their gingerbread house?!  So we constructed and decorated all at the same time and the gingerbread house didn't last very long! I guess the company got enough complaints last year so this year the gingerbread came preassembled so you didn't have to wait to decorate it... genius!!

Holdyn would have eaten all the icing if we let him!

Sister watching... not too sure what this whole gingerbread house thing is about!

The finished product (even with our added animal crackers :) )
