Today was the day that we packed up and headed out early to go to Skidaway Island to Holdyn's school from last year. Not only was he excited about skipping school for the day, he was also thrilled to see the progress on the big bridge they are building right by the school (he hasn't been back since we moved), excited to see the firetrucks and the firemen, and to see teacher Maria and teacher Mary!
On our way there, he spotted the progress on the bridge. He thought that was so cool to see how much they have gotten accomplished since he last saw it, and he loved seeing all the cranes!
We arrived a few minutes early (we couldn't be late for the firetrucks, you know!), so we joined in teacher Mary's class for music time. Hadley sat right next to Holdyn. Holdyn kept looking around the room trying to figure out all of the new faces and wondering where all of his classmates were from last year!
Holdyn was VERY protective of Hadley. He kept holding her hand to show her the classroom and he kept putting his arm around her. SO sweet!
The firemen finally showed up! Right off the bat, one of them looked at Holdyn and said "I know you! You come to my station all the time!!" Oh my gosh. That's bad that they reckognize him!!
Within 5 minutes of them arriving, they got an emergency call. One of the firemen had to leave with the majority of the gear. Holdyn had decided to bring his real assistant fire chief hat to show the firemen. Luckily he did, because fireman Steve had to borrow it since his was taken by the other firefighter to the emergency! Holdyn was VERY concerned that they would take it with them and forget to give it back to him!
Hadley could have cared less about the fire talk. She was busy taking care of all of the baby dolls and cooking in the kitchen!
After the safety talk, the other fireman had returned from the emergency and all the classes headed outside for a look at the trucks! Holdyn piped in to tell everyone that that firetruck was called a pumper truck! The firefighters were very impressed!!
They put all their gear on for the kids and they even had their oxygen tanks and masks with them that Holdyn also was quick to point out the proper name of the mask was a breathing apparratus!
Skidaway Isand Preschool (and Holdyn and Hadley) all stood in front of the ladder truck for a picture!
I was so glad we got to go back but it was also emotional. I really miss Ms. Maria and Ms. Mary and the atmosphere of the preschool. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE where Holdyn goes to school now, and we love Ms. Debbie, but today just brought back so many memories. My eyes might have filled up with tears a few times.... ok maybe they did.
Holdyn's Pre-K teacher last year, Ms. Maria (She is now the director) and Holdyn and Hadley
Hadley was VERY interested in her necklace! Haha!! That's our accesory girl for you! She loves her jewerly and bows!
Holdyn and the Firemen!
He is the only one that got to sit in the firetruck!
Playing in teacher Mary's room... just like the old days!
Hadley playing in teacher Mary's class!
Hadley decided to go play in the 1 year old room... the toys were more her speed in there. She even got to have snack time with this class!
Teacher Mary and the kids!!!
